Monster
By Lowell Bryant - 9/19/2026
In all my story books
The hero slayed the beast
I wanted to save the world
From all the wicked things
Creatures of the night
That live to steal your soul
I’d be there to protect you
Had it all under control
But I got a little older
Things began to change
Looked into the mirror
Glowing eyes
Bloody fangs
Strange
Am I the monster?
The one I always feared
Am I the monster?
The truth is not so clear
Could I be the monster I never wanted to be?
Maybe I’m the monster
And the monster is me
Call it coincidence
I woke up at the scene
Made it out alive
A victim of your scheme
The night it grew colder
The town began to sleep
I saw the full moon rising
Can’t remember too much of anything
Am I the monster, The one I always feared
Am I the monster, The truth is not so clear
Could I be the monster I never wanted to be
Maybe I’m the monster and the monster is me
I am the monster, The one I always feared
I am the monster, How did I get here
I am the monster, I never wanted to be
I am the monster, So why would you save me?
